Fun Parks in Cabo San Lucas

Nature lovers know how it is; you’ve arrived in a new location and you want to check out the parks and green spaces it has to offer. Well you’ll be pleased to know that Baja California has a large number of gardens, parks, and nature reserves. If you want to stay close to home, so to speak, you can visit the small, traditional park in Cabo san Lucas Town square.

Alternatively you could see the San Jose Bird Sanctuary, the Wirikuta Botanical Park, and the Desert Park Natural Reserve. Lovers of aquatic scenery could go snorkeling or scuba diving in the nearby Cabo Pulmo National park!

TOWN SQUARE

Found on the northern side of the downtown area you can find the Town Square. This park is surrounded by large, mature trees and is a lovely shady space to enjoy during the hotter parts of the day. Popular with locals and visitors this park is the perfect place to enjoy an impromptu picnic.

SAN JOSE’S BIRD SANCTUARY

Bird lovers will really enjoy the San Jose Bird Sanctuary! Here you can see pelicans, heron, and a large number of exotic migratory birds. You can also kayak within the park, if you wish, along with trying a number of other activities. You can find out all you need to know in the visitor centre.

WIRIKUTA BOTANICAL PARK

Address: Puerto Los Cabos, Los Cabos
The Wirikuta Botanical Park is home to over 1500 species of desert plants from all over the world. It is designed to honor the cultures and traditions of the indigenous Mexican people as well as the cactus in all its gorgeous forms. The Park is a labyrinthine mass of over 1,000,000 (seriously!) plants including cacti and bonsai bougainvilleas. The Wirikuta also has three granite pyramids to marvel at! These magical and meticulously kept acres will no doubt take your breath away.

DESERT PARK NATURAL RESERVE

Found in the Corridor of Cabo san Lucas this is a particularly rough and rugged spot which features large swathes of desert, mountains and gorgeous sea views. The Desert Park Natural Reserve that you can enjoy in a group or by yourself, but taking one of the guided tours will really help you to make the most of it. Tours cost around $50-75 for a three-hour tour.

CABO PULMO NATIONAL PARK

The Cabo Pulmo National park is within the San Jose area, and is fairly close to the center of Cabo san Lucas. The main attractions here are the gorgeous coral reefs, and crystal clear waters which house a staggering array of marine life!
